Overall air pollution in the Rhine Valley in the Grisons, Switzerland: A topographical map is superimposed on a DTM. The overall air pollution in the valley was measured by a research project where the distribution of lichen was mapped. Lichen species function as bioindicators for air quality. The various zones of different air pollution are shown in colors ranging from yellow (low pollution) to dark red (high pollution). This is an example of our collaboration with University of Toronto, Centre for Landscape Research.
